Veteran scribe Bango dies

Veteran journalist, William Tagwireyi Bango, has died.

Reports indicate that Bango, a former spokesperson for Morgan Tsvangirai, the MDC-T leader, was involved in a car crash in the afternoon on Tuesday.

He was reportedly returning from his Chivhu home alone when his Isuzu Single Cab collided head-on with a Toyota Raum near Dema in rural Seke.

Two passengers in the Raum also died.

Bango had been developing the imposing double-storey Chivhu home as his retirement retreat where he also kept cattle and farmed.

He began his journalism career in the 1970s and worked for the now Zimpapers and was once the News Editor at the Daily News.

Bango, a former President of the Zimbabwe Union of Journalist, was Tsvangirai's spokesperson for some time, during which he ghost authored the MDC-T leader's biography, At the Deep End.
