Dube who announced his resignation from the party at a press conference in the city on Thursday cited personal reasons for ditching the party which he had for several years.

"I have resigned from the Green Party. My reasons for quitting are personal. This decision is not influenced by any political party," said Dube.

Although Dube claimed that he had decided to quit in order to concentrate on his studies and farming, recent reports have linked him to the MDC- T led by Morgan Tsvangirai.

" For now I am not joining any political party .I am simply taking a break from politics and have time with my family as well as concentrate on my studies and farming.

"Maybe one of these days I might bounce back but for now I do not have time for politics," he said.

MDC has suffered several desertions since last year's general election where it failed to land a single contested seat.

About a forth night ago, the party's two former legislators Edward Mkhosi and Siyabonga Malandu defected from the party and joined the MDC -T.

Former Bulawayo MDC Youth Assembly Chairperson, Jackson Lunga, and several other members have also left the party and joined the MDC-T.
