Moyana has been insulted by fellow musicians and dumped or pulled off stage by music promoters during the past few months. “I will not be moved by such actions from my detractors. I will continue pursuing my music career,” Moyana told The Zimbabwean this week.

The Chipinge-bred musician was barred from performing at the 21st February Movement. The gala organisers said his lyrical content was unfit for such a national ceremony. “Zanu (PF) Harare Province committee stopped Moyana from performing because of his controversial lyrics,” said gala organiser Partson Chimbodza of Chipaz Promotions.

This came shortly after sungura ace Alick Macheso blasted Moyana for his plug song, Kana Muchitidako, which he said lacks decency and should be banned.

Recently, Jah Prayzah’s manager Filda Muchabaiwa pulled Moyana from the performing line-up citing that his music was not decent for family shows. Moyana’s music compositions such as Kana Muchitidako commonly referred to as Munotidako carries various interpretations. It can either be loosely translated as a woman’s behind or verification for a welcome.

Though Moyana has on numerous occasions said his content refers to the latter, many have dismissed his lyrics as carrying vulgar connotations. But the controversial musician has been performing alongside stylish dendera star Sulumani Chimbetu.
