Most Zimbabweans are eager to know how the money was spent, but he keeps a tight lid on the matter.

“I keep my finances to myself,” he said when questioned. Pressed to shed light on whether the generous gesture was put to good use or not, the Diamond Boy said the money was well spent.

“I invested some of the money to kickstart my projects, some of which I am working on now. I think I will be in a better position to reveal much about it by end of this year,” he added.

The money was presented to him by President Robert Mugabe at the state house, which sparked speculation on his relations with Zanu (PF). Information gathered by The Zimbabwean indicates that Chidzonga paid a $30,000 tithe to his church, and poured an undisclosed amount into production and marketing of the movie Lobola, which he featured in.

It is also understood that he launched a clothing line called Diamond Boy. He hinted that he had established his own film production company and has featured in a few productions including The Gentleman and Something Nice From London.
