Party Spokesperson, Rugare Gumbo described Tsvangirai’s suspension from the MDC as a reflection that the party could not resolve internal conflicts amicably hence Zimbabweans should not give them the mandate to govern the country.
Said Gumbo: “We are not surprised because this should have happened months back. The MDC is definitely heading for a break- up just like what they did in 2005 when the party’s Secretary General broke away and formed his own party.”
That year, Welshman Ncube led a breakaway formation after Tsvangirai opposed the majority decision to participate in a re-introduced Senate.
The MDC Team, a faction within the MDC yesterday said it is no longer recognising Tsvangirai as the party president, accusing him of failing to defeat President Robert Mugabe and adhere to the party’s founding principles and values.
The party’s Secretary General, Tendai Biti told journalists in Harare that party leader, Tsvangirai, was suspended with immediate effect together with other party big wigs including Vice President Thokozani Khupe, National Organising Secretary, Nelson Chamisa, Deputy National Chairperson, Morgen Komichi, Party Spokesperson, Douglas Mwonzora, Deputy Organising Secretary, Abednigo Bhebhe and Lovemore Moyo, the party’s National Chairperson.
The group suspended Tsvangirai accusing him of resisting leadership change following his third successive defeat at the hands of the party’s arch rival, Mugabe in July, 2013.
Gumbo said recent developments augument Zanu (PF)’s assertions that the opposition MDC was formed by power hungry individuals.
“The party is composed of opportunists,” said Gumbo. “There is no ideology on how to handle internal disputes and why should Zimbabweans give such a party the mandate to rule the country when they cannot handle internal squabbles to that extent?” he queried.
Gumbo described the MDC leadership as being constituted by incompetent individuals who had no concrete program on how they can take the country forward.
“ Clearly the MDC has no ideology and we have always reiterated that the party is composed of people who do not have leadership qualities. They were just taking advantage of their western masters’ regime change agenda despite that they have no clue whatsoever on what leadership entails,” said Gumbo.

Well, I suppose that the CIO wouldn’t be doing its job if there were no problems in the MDC.
All MDC concerned with this nonsense are stupid.Let Zanu rule if you had no idea where you were headed. I am neithger Zanu nor MDC member but in general my sympathies were with MDC T but I am not sure whether there is any capable of doing anything worth holding breath for at the present moment.
