The former Warriors left-back also saw the side to a final appearance at the Nedbank Cup, where they eventually lost 3-1 to cross-town rivals Orlando Pirates.
The former Kaizer Chiefs defender, who has also played in Europe, joined Wits as a free agent on a one-year contract with an option to renew last August.
“I had a great season with Wits, thanks to the support I got from the coach and the rest of the technical team,” said Bhasera, one of the few Zimbabweans who had favourable game time under new coach Gavin Hunt.
“I signed for a year, but after what happened at the club this past season, I would love to remain within the Wits set-up for the coming season. I feel I am a welcome family member here and given a chance, I would surely grab the opportunity. This club is run in a very professional manner and any player would like to be part of such set-up.”
Hunt has not hidden his admiration for the former Zimbabwe senior national team player. “Bhasera was our catch of the season. He’s been fantastic and showed the experience he gained during those years he spent he Europe,” said Hunt recently.
Bhasera was one of five Zimbabweans in the Students’ books last season, alongside Thomas Sweswe, Tinashe Nengomasha, Benjani Mwaruwari and Denver Mukamba.
