The parliamentary portfolio oral evidence giving by Harare Mayor, Benard Manyenyeni, initially scheduled for Tuesday was pushed forward to a date yet to be announced as he was not adequately prepared.

Manyenyeni was scheduled to give oral evidence on the Airport Road and Coventry Bay before the Portfolio Committee for Local Government, Rural and Urban Development at the House of Assembly at 10 am.

The Portfolio Committee Chairperson and Zanu (PF) Member of Parliament for Mutasa South, Irene Zindi, told The Zimbabwean that Manyenyeni had requested for the postponement which was accepted by the legislators.

“The evidence will be heard soon, on a date yet to be decided,” Zindi said.

Manyenyeni confirmed that his office had requested for the postponement, since he had not gathered all the required information for the occasion.

“I am yet to equip myself with the information required by Parliament because the Town Clerk is sick and out of office,” said Manyenyeni.

Manyenyeni expressed hope that the evidence would be given by the second week of June.
