Tanyanyiwa on the ropes

Former Highlanders and Dynamos goalkeeper Tendai Tanyanyiwa could find himself looking for a new job next month, after the expiry of his contract with Pretoria University.

Tanyanyiwa, who played for the Pretoria side since their days in the National First Division some seasons ago, has been in charge of their goalkeeping department since 2012.

He has been instrumental in their staying power in the PSL, having helped them achieve a top eight finish last season and that could help his cause to be retained again – at least for next season.

His protégé and Zimbabwe Warriors’ goalkeeper, Washington Arubi was, under the tutelage of Tanyanyiwa, also named the club’s player of the season for 2013.

“There is nothing concrete about my future at the team right now, as we have not discussed anything yet, but I’m confident that the management will come to me anytime soon and then

we will take it from there,” said Tanyanyiwa in a recent interview with The Zimbabwean. “Should we fail to agree on a new contract, I have other plans of starting my own business, which I would not like to divulge now for other reasons.”

The AmaTuks goalkeeper’s coach was still grateful to club management for their support and trust shown over the years.
