The two, Ms Tambudzai Kalandi and Ms Florence Motsi, are detained at the Avenues Clinic. Ms Kalandi is in the intensive care unit, having suffered multiple body injuries including a broken leg, while Ms Motsi sustained severe head injuries. Having seen that the plot to split the party has failed, Zanu PF has resorted to what it knows best: violence.
Speaking to journalists after visiting the two MDC activists, Tsvangirai said:“What is important to emphasize is that when Zanu PF sees people on the roll, it turns to its default mode which is violence, fear and intimidation. We need to recognize that the MDC is a popular movement while Zanu PF has a challenge of converting their harvest of fear, violence and intimidation into popularity.” President Tsvangirai added that even in the face of violence, the party would continue to engage the people.
Fourteen people were injured in the brutal attack when Amos Midzi set his thugs upon the people who were dispersing from the MDC rally. On his visit to hospital today, the President was accompanied by the Party’s Shadow Minister for Home Affairs, Hon Lillian Timveous and Organising Secretary, Hon Nelson Chamisa.Post published in: News
