Barclays Premier League Roundup

England have embarrassingly crashed out of the 2014 FIFA World Cup, automatically shifting British focus to the Barclays Premiership. With more than a month remaining before the 2014/15 season begins, fans are obviously keeping their ears on which club has bought which player, or who is making a move on who.

Arsenal fans would probably love to hear that their club could get their targeted striker, Mario Balotelli from AC Milan for a price lower than the £27m the Italian giants had initially asked for, on condition that Costa Rica’s Joel Campbell goes the opposite direction.

Should Arsene Wenger fail to get his man, he could reportedly make a move for Bayern Munich’s Mario Mandzukic. The Gunners have also reportedly joined league runners-up Liverpool, Manchester United and Juventus in the race for Barcelona’s Alexis Sanchez.

The Reds and Arsenal, who have already been snubbed by Yann M’Vila, who favourite Inter Milan, are also battling to sign Mexican Guillermo Ochoa, but Arsenal fans have threatened to riot if Wenger signs Tom Cleverley.

Aston Villa have been linked with a swoop for Brazilian striker Jefferson, who is poised to leave Italian Serie B side Latina. They also battle with 29-year-old Marseille midfielder Morgan Amalfitano, who impressed on loan at West Bromwich Albion, with Crystal Palace and Sunderland.

Villa are also interested in signing Manchester United’s Rio Ferdinand, Almeria playmaker Aleix Vidal and Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott, who is available as a free agent this summer. Liverpool are set to move for Chelsea defender Ryan Bertrand, while veteran Chelsea striker, Samuel Eto’o, has set his sights on Italian side Roma, should they meet his pay demands.

Chelsea boss, Jose Mourinho has insisted that Brazilian midfielder Ramires will be staying at Stamford Bridge and not move to Real Madrid, but the Portuguese coach is tempted to sell the Brazilian for Croatian playmaker Luka Modric.

Mourinho also wants to sign Germany and Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira, while Belgian Romelo Lukaku has rejected a summer move to West Ham for the second year running, but could go to German side Wolfsburg.

Liverpool are keen on Crystal Palace winger Yannick Bolasie, who has just 12 months left on his current Selhurst Park deal. The Reds and cross-town rivals, Everton, are also interested in signing QPR midfielder Stephane Mbia.

Everton are also looking to beat Arsenal and Manchester United to Alessio Cerci as they prepare for the possibility of life without Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku.

Barcelona claim that a deal to sign Luis Suarez from Liverpool is in ‘advanced stage’, while Manchester United winger, Antonio Valencia could be on his way to Anfield, where he could be joined by Chile and Juventus right-back Mauricio Isla, also wanted by Liverpool.

Arsenal have joined Liverpool, Manchester United and Juventus in the race for Barcelona’s Alexis Sanchez.

Liverpool have also opened preliminary talks with Bayern Munich over a proposed £16m deal for Xherdan Shaqiri and also want to sign Adam Lallana and Dejan Lovren from Southampton and Fabio Borini of Sunderland.
