Bev ropes in bouncers

Controversial pole dancer-cum-singer, Beverly Sibanda, has roped in the services of bouncers to escort her in a bid to bar patrons from making physical contact with her on and off the stage. The development comes after the raunchy dancer was hauled before the Magistrate Courts last week for violating her dancing license, which prohibits dancers from making physical contact with patrons during performances.

Bev pleaded guilty and was fined $100 after her two-month jail term was wholly suspended on condition that she does not commit a similar offence in the next five years. Her publicist, Hapaz Mapimhidze, said he had since devised security measures to safeguard conditions of the licence.

“I’m making sure that we engage bouncers whenever Bev is on stage. The bouncers will make sure that Bev and the girls (Sexy Angels) are escorted, whether it’s the venue or stage, so that she won’t get in touch with patrons. We want to respect the conditions we were given by the court as well as our license,” he said.

They will also ban patrons and the media from taking pictures at any of their shows. The move comes after published erotic images of Bev’s performance at the Samba Night at the Harare International Carnival sparked public outrage, prompting her arrest.

Bev was first arrested in September 2012, with fellow erotic dancer Noleen “Zoey” Sifelani and had to spend a night behind bars. Though they were released without being charged, police details were alerted by the press following publication of her explicit images on stage.
