The Bulawayo giants began the last two seasons with huge promise, only to end second on the log behind perennial rivals Dynamos, following a number of draws from opposition they should have thrashed to win the league.
The trend has not been different this season, as they went 11 matches unbeaten. However, their pedigree to win their first league title in eight years came under question when they failed for the umpteenth time to beat the Harare giants, falling to a 1-0 loss at the National Sports Stadium on Sunday.
Mahachi – on a short loan to Bosso from South African champions Mamelodi Sundowns, said the Bulawayo giants were still on track to win the title.
“We are still in a very good position to win the league and the atmosphere in the team is just electrifying. Everybody seems to be eyeing the championship and that is a very good and positive situation,” said the national team star.
“Highlanders have all the necessary resources and quality players that can bring back happier times to the team. I am really enjoying my game in the team and our coach, Kelvin Kaindu, is a great tactician who believes in me.”
Mahachi has scored six goals for the side so far in the season and promised to continue helping the team rise up, before he leaves for his Pretoria base in the next few weeks.
He is set to join his Sundowns team-mates, who include countrymen Khama Billiat, Cuthbert Malajila, Esrom Nyandoro, Method Mwanjali and team manager, Peter Ndlovu.
