Chimedza allegedly bashed Charles Ngwena, the MDC-T districtYouth Chairperson for Marondera Central on May 24, 2014, for ‘seeking release of party youths from police custody’.
A docket RRB1917565 has since been opened against Chimedza.
Ngwena had gone to the police station in the evening of the day in question to seek a police explanation regarding the arrest of the MDC-T youths.
Ngwena, who was in MDC-T regalia, was reportedly assaulted by Chimedza and sustained injuries.
The youth Ngwena sought to release were reportedly arrested for mocking the police for delayed salary dates.
The government is of late struggling to pay workers on time.
