We will not miss Chipeta: Dube

Hwange coach Nation Dube said this week his side would pull through even without the services of star defender Eric Chipeta, who is set to move to South Africa before August.

Although he conceded that Chipeta was a quality player, Dube said the colliery side had done enough groundwork to ensure enough and able replacements for the man who was linked to Bulawayo giants, Highlanders at the start of the current season.

“We will continue doing well in the league, where we are at a respectable position at the moment not because of one man, but team effort,” said Dube in an interview.

“We are on the right track and will always fight to fulfil our motto of emerging champions with the other youthful players we have in our ranks, who are all hungry for success. Chipeta has been our pillar of strength ever since the start of the race, but his move, where we wish him very well, will not jeopardise our progress in the league as we have played some of our games without him while he was away on national team duty.”

Chipeta, a national team player under Ian Gorowa, is set to join Absa Premiership returnees Chippa United at the beginning of July.
