Bosso player on trials at Maritzburg United

Highlanders left back Khumbulani Banda recently arrived in South Africa for a two-week trial stint with ABSA Premiership side Maritzburg United.

Banda has played a vital role in the heart of Bosso’s defence, coming in as a super-sub on numerous occasions. Should he become successful, he would be the second Zimbabwean at the Team of Choice, alongside Warriors striker Terrence Mandaza.

“The Highlanders player is with and has started his trials, after arriving in the team during mid-week. He is a good player but it is too early to judge his performances,” said United team manager, Quinton Jacobs.

“Here at United we give our trialists enough time to showcase their full potential. Banda will be with us for at least two weeks, after which our coach, Steve Kompela, will decide whether he will rope him in for the coming season,” he added.

Banda joined Highlanders at the beginning of the season from cross-town rivals How Mine, replacing Bruce Kangwa.

This season alone, Highlanders have lost the services of their midfield dynamo, Peter “Rio” Moyo to Mpumalanga Black Aces, Milton Ncube who joined Simba Sithole’s Ajax Cape Town and Kudakwashe Mahachi, already training with his new club, Mamelodi Sundowns.
