Two heartbeats ago, the government-owned Sunday Mail said the editor of The Zimbabwean was ‘duped’ into paying fifty or so dollars to his own reporters – Mxolisi Ncube and Mkhululi Chimoio – for publicity on the Baba Jukwa blog. In that article The Sunday Mail identified Ncube and Chimoio as Baba Jukwa.
There was a stash of hacked emails to prove that Mbanga was ‘duped.’ Now, all of a sudden, the state has decided he will look better as Jukwa’s administrator rather than victims of a fifty dollar con. There is a phrase we often hear on the streets. That phrase is ‘hapana nyaya apa.’ There is really no story here.
Why is it necessary for this vicious cop to hit anyone, especially someone who has not yet been proven guilty of any crime, and even then why be so brutal? Obviously he is alone in this big act for the cameras as the other cops in riot helmets are totally unconcerned that anyone is going to run anywhere in a hurry. It is obviously totally unnecessary or is his nasty performance just for the Human Rights Brigade? I hope they are onto him. Such images do nothing for Zimbabwe’s own image out in the Diaspora.
