Mabvuku completes double over Mufakose 2 High School

Mabvuku High school continued with their dominance over Mufakose 2 High school when the team won both fixtures in the Harare schools chess league fixtures. In the first fixture Mufakose lost 5-1 before losing the last fixture the final fixture 4,5-1,5.

The team last beat Mabvuku High schoolchess team during the days of Michael Musekiwa, Lawrence Tavagwisa and Kuzimwai Baila. Nigel Marawa is the only member still with the team. Mufokose 2 team comprised of Nigel Marawa, Farai Hamandisha, Panashe Nyandoro, Ashley Nyamungwe, Ascious Peisa and Alaster Peisa. Mabvuku had Brian Shokoni, Phillip Jekera, Munyaradzi Thom, Solomon Chimuzura, Rufaro Ncube and Graffi Bester.

Nigel Mararwa is the only one who won the game for Mufakose while Farai Hamandisha drew against Phillip Jekera. Solomon Chimuzura won a seemingly drawn game in a very tactical way on board 4. Munyaradzi Thom dismissed his opponent in a very interesting way after sacrifing a castle for a mate. Rufaro Ncube played well a pawn end game and won as well. Graffi Bester had an easy win against Alaster Peisa after the former blundered in the middle game.

Meanwhile Prince Edward will be hosting a chess festival on the 26th of July. It will be a teams tourney. The teams will be of 4 players. There will be two divisions,one for the boys and the other for the girls. Primary schools are also welcome. For further information get in touch with Mr Bepe the organiser of the event.
