He signed for reigning Absa Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns after his brilliant showing at the African Nations Championships in January, where he helped The Warriors storm the semi-finals.
However, a short loan stint at hometown club Highlanders could be the only link the speedy winger ever has with The Brazilians, should he succeed on his trial with French Ligue 1 side, AS Monaco, where he was on trial recently.
Agent Tim Sukazi confirmed this week that the former Bantu Rovers star was undergoing a trial at AS Monaco, again thanks to his strong displays at CHAN 2014, held in South Africa in January this year. Sukazi, a director at Quality Talent Sports, played a role in facilitating the assessment, along with the midfielder's representative, Godwin Emmanuel.
“Yes, it is true I am involved in Mahachi’s trial at Monaco. This is an opportunity that we have been working on, together with Mahachi’s agent, for some good few months,” he said. "Mahachi was one of the most outstanding players during CHAN 2014 and this opportunity is a culmination of his good showing then.”
Earlier indications were that the player, who calls himself “Neymar” after the Brazilian poster boy was fast-impressing at the French side and could land himself the contract he is so keen to get and break into one of the top five European leagues.
