MDC circus

So much has been written about the Jukwa debacle. A lot has been said about the circus that is the MDC. But, lately, these two non-issues – Jukwa and Team Yellow – have eclipsed the important matters of employment creation, rebuilding of roads, resuscitation of the water and sewerage systems, electricity generation, industry revival and the return of rule of law.

Only 15 years ago, graduating from university meant guaranteed employment. Nowadays having a varsity degree makes it easier for one to read the soap instructions at the car wash, where a lot of college graduates eke out a living.

Monthly, the dates for civil servants’ paydays are pushed forward with the broke government trying to buy time like a gambling addict dodging the bookie’s enforcer. When a power cut lasts only a few hours we celebrate because ‘at least it’s better than going the whole day without electricity.’ Those are the real issues.
