“Troyeville’s four teams will represent Johannesburg East at Regional level in a competition that will be held on July 26,” Moyo told The Zimbabwean.
“In matches played over weekend, Troyeville’s under-13 boys defended the district championship for the sixth time in a row, while under-11 boys, under-11 girls and under-13 girls defended the district title for the fifth time in a row. This is called the road to national championship because the winner at regional level advances to provincial championships and all the way to the national games.”
Moyo added that he had managed to assembly a better team in the girls’ category.
“My Under-13 girls struggled in the past year and their best result was a provincial bronze medal in 2012, while in the other years they were knocked out at regional level. This year they look threatening and might win the provincial gold, although there is a long way to go and being the Gauteng School Sport Coach of the year, people are now training for Troyville only,” said the school teacher. “Personally, I will fight and try to win more than 16 gold medals this year, as I did in 2013. I already have five such medals now,” he added.
