Addressing the predominately 3,000 uniformed force mourners at the burial of the late Lt Col Stanley Urayayi Sakupwanya at the National Heroes Acre last week, Mujuru said: “I hope our children in the diaspora are getting my message that whatever they do should benefit Zimbabwe.”

Sakupwanya, a Zanu (PF) politburo member, died last Tuesday at Parirenyatwa Hospital aged 75.

Mujuru urged Zimbabweans to reflect on the long and strenuous liberation journey travelled by those who participated in the struggle, ‘since the country’s independence was not delivered on a silver platter’.

She called on the nation to have unity of purpose and jealously guard gains brought about through the armed struggle.
