Mushekwi had some forgettable times on his European sojourn, enduring a number of injuries that kept him out of action for almost the whole second half of the season.
He is now trying to win back his starting position at Sundowns, where he failed to command a regular place in the star-studded side, after the arrival of current coach, Pitso Mosimane, resulting in the move.
Sundown’s communications coordinator Thulani Thuswa confirmed the former Caps United goal-getter was back the Pretoria-based side, who are also the reigning PSL champions.
“Mushekwi is back with us from his loan deal with KV Oosternder and as I speak, he is training with the rest of the team. He is our player and we will keep him for the coming season,” Thuswa told The Zimbabwean.
“Believe me, he is more than fit and injury-free. All those rumours that were said previously about him staying in Belgium or being linked to other PSL clubs were untrue.”
He also confirmed that nearly all the new and recalled on-loan players, including skilful Zimbabwean winger, Kudakwashe Mahachi, were already at training as the club prepared for the coming season.
Other Zimbabwean players who have reported for duty at Sundowns are veteran defensive midfielder Esrom Nyandoro, striker Cuthbert Malajila and winger Khama Billiat, who is still injured. Only former Warriors defender Method Mwanjali had not yet re-joined the team.
