The record has therefore ensured that the side remain on the better side of the relegation zone – keeping alive the hopes of Gweru fans for another view of the PSL action in their backyard next season.
Coach Nyikadzino said the boys know only full well that they will have to defend their home record and fight to collect the full set of points against the platinum miners.
“We have been talking to the boys and they seem prepared to do the job. The strikers have also been reminded that they were employed to score goals and so we look forward to a clean victory, even though we have great respect for FC Platinum,” said Nyijadzino.
His rival Lyloyd Mutasa, who chose to keep his cards close the chest, only pointed out that records are meant to be broken.
“We are not going to employ a defensive approach. Our mission will be to win the match. Therefore from the first minute, we shall be attacking,” he said.
Meanwhile, it will be derby time in Bulawayo when Highlanders, now on top of the log, clash with How Mine at Luveve Stadium. Both teams are only seperated with two points and so the victors have a chance to ascend to the log summit.
In the lowveld Chiredzi host Harare City hoping top post a win so that they leave the murcky waters of relegation while Chicken Inn and Caps United are also slatted for a date. Hwange and ZPC Kariba square off at Colliery Stadium while Dembare who dropped points when they drew with the Gamecocks last week, host troubled Black Rhinos. Shabanie Mine travel to Mutare for a date with army side Buffaloes while Bantu Rovers are scheduled to host unpredictable Triangle FC.
With only three points separating the top six teams after 13 matches, this season’s action has proven to be highly competitive compared with previous ones.
