Stand in national coach Langton Giwa is not taking any chances and has called in nine veterans and a number of players from the Zimbabwean team for the Africa Zone 6 Youth Games set for Bulawayo in December.

Giwa is aware that the Mighty Warriors’ win will do a lot to the team’s’ 10th ranking in Africa as their opponents are raked way above in fourth place, just behind Nigeria, Ghana, and Cameroon.

Giwa says although the Mighty Warriors are out of the Africa Women’s Championships to be hosted by Namibia in October, the Mighty Warriors are not taking any chances against the Banyana Banyana as they are also using the match to start building a strong team for the future.

“There is nothing like a friendly match when we play South Africa. This is a grudge match and we are going into the game to win, and nothing else. I know they are also thinking of the same,” says Giwa

Apart from Muzongoni, Giwa has also called Merjury Nyaumwe, a veteran of that memorable 2-1 win over the Banyana Banyana at the 2004 Africa Women’s Championships held in South Africa.

Giwa has also included the likes of Chido Dzingirayi, Rudo Neshamba, Rejoice Kamupfubvuti, Emmaculate Msipa, Sithembile Nyoni, and Melody Musasa, who have been part of the Warriors set up for some time.

Giwa is standing in for Rosemary Mugadza who is attending Caf Licence course. Banyana Banyana who have always struggled against the Mighty Warriors go into the match following a 2-1 win over Namibia last weekend. On the other hand, the Mighty Warriors have been bundled out of the Africa Women’s Championships following the 2-0 agreegate loss at the hands of Zambia.
