Zimbabwe Schedules Diamond Conference in November

Press Release: The most important world diamond leaders have accepted positions as keynote speakers for the Zimbabwe Diamond Conference 2014: Eli Izhakoff, the honorary president of both the World Diamond Council (WDC) and the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB), Ernie Blom, the president of the WFDB and Gaetano Cavalieri, the president of CIBJO.

While the aim of the WFDB is to participate in the promotion of world trade and to encourage the establishment of bourses (today there are 28 bourses worldwide), CIBJO represents the interests of all individuals, organizations and companies earning their livelihoods from jewelry, gemstones and precious metals. It is the oldest international organization in the jewelry sector.

Izhakoff said, “I look forward to participating in this high-profile event. Zimbabwe is a significant diamond producing country and can evolve into an important trading center which will benefit all its citizens."

Blom said, “Zimbabwe, with its vast mineral resources is well positioned to take advantage, as a major supplier of rough diamonds, of a world market that has seen challenges with current supply lines.”

The conference will be moderated by diamond industry analyst Chaim Even-Zohar, the president of Tacy Ltd. The conference takes place on November 6 and 7, 2014 in Harare with the theme: “Completing Zimbabwe’s Diamond Potential for the Future.”
