Mukamba our best buy: Barker

Pretoria University coach, Steve Barker has faith in on-loan midfielder Denver Mukamba. The player, who failed to find game time at Bidvest Wits University, landed in Pretoria after he was off-loaded by the Johannesburg side’s coach Gavin Hunt early this season.

In a recent interview, Barker sang the praises of the highly-talented former Dynamos midfielder and said he would be the solution to their usually weak midfield department.

Barker added that he relied on Mukamba to lead the charge for a respectable finish on the log, as the side ended last season on an 11th position on the 16-team log.

“There is no doubt that Denver Mukamba remains one of the best players in this league and I hope he will be able to rediscover the form and magic that saw him do wonders as his former club, Dynamos and in the Zimbabwe national team,” said Barker.

Mukamba said he felt so welcome in the AmaTuks team that he was raring to go in the new Absa Premiership season, which begins this weekend. The midfielder is set to begin his assault on the league with an away fixture against his main club, Wits on August 12.

“Being in the AmaTuks side has been fantastic for me so far and I am looking forward to having a great time with them. I am raring to go in the new season and I hope this change of setup and location will do me a lot of good,” said the highly-talented player.

“I’m here to help them win some silverware. I will still be playing alongside some of my countrymen and fellow national team players in goalkeeper Washington Arubi and defender Partson Jaure, with whom I also played at Dynamos, where we won a lot of things together.”
