Panyangara thrown out

Tinashe Panyangara has been thrown out of the Zimbabwean team for the Triangular Series after he was accused of disrupting the team’s focus ahead of their opening game against Australia Monday.

Panyangara is accused of circulating a video on group Whats app of the bowling of Australia’s Mitchell Johnson which seemed to be giving the impression that Zimbabwe would not stand a chance against Johnson the next day.

Ironically, Zimbabwe lost the game against the Aussies by 198 runs, and Johnson took one wicket and conceded only seven runs in six overs.

Zimbabwe Cricket felt the circulation of the video was way off the expected conduct and have on top of the Series ban also fined Panyangara a $1 000 fine for the behavior.

“The national team disciplinary committee found Panyangara’s behavior to be disruptive in the build up to the first ODI of the Triangular Series which Zimbabwe played against Australia Monday,” reads the statement from Zimbabwe Cricket.

Panyangara will miss Zimbabwe’s next game Friday against South Africa and the others that will also follow in the Series. Zimbabwe will play Australia in their second game before rounding up the group stages against South Africa.

The Australia, South Africa and Zimbabwe are playing each other twice with the top two teams qualifying for the final set for Harare Sports Club on September 6.

Panyangara, however, will be allowed to train with the Zimbabwe A side for the tour of Bangladesh set for September.
