Masvingo magistrate Tafadzwa Mhlanga said he was giving Charumbira the last chance to appear in court and give his testimony after the traditional leader failed to turn up for the second time after being served with summons.

“Witnesses need to take court proceedings seriously,” said Mhlanga. Ruzi Hasha is facing charges of insulting Charumbira after he allegedly labelled him son of a prostitute and oppressor at a public meeting in 2011.

Hasha is denying the charges and was represented by Martin Mureri of Matutu Kwirira and associates legal firm. Witnesses for the defence include former MDC-T legislator Tichaona Maradze Chiminya.
