Pistorius not guilty of murder, judge says he was negligent

Oscar Pistorius has been found not guilty of premeditated murder and second-degree murder.

"The state clearly has not proved beyond reasonable doubt that the accused is guilty of premeditated murder," said presiding judge Thokozile Masipa.

She said, however, that he had been negligent. She will give her judgement tomorrow on whether he is guilty of a lesser charge of culpable homicide.

Earlier, the judge said Mr Pistorius made a `"conscious decision to shoot".

She said some witnesses had been unreliable.

The world- famous Olympic and Paralympic athlete has been facing murder charges after he shot his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp on Valentine's Day last year.
