The project ‘Stand Up, Clean Chitungwiza’ (Marara mubhinhi) is championed by the mayoress Alice Kuvheya Mutoti.
“With the enthusiasm shown by participants and the support pledged by the town council towards the initiative, Chitungwiza’s face would be uplifted within three months,” said Mutoti this week.
Over 60 women participated in the recent St Marys clean-up while the local authority provided a front-end loader, refuse collection trucks and protective clothing. Mutoti said the campaign followed the realisation that Chitungwiza, like other towns, was battling economic challenges.
