“Coach Allan Freese showed confidence in me when he signed me and I have to repay him,” said the former Young Warriors striker. “I am desperate to be thrust into the action, but I know my time will come and when that happens, I will fight to deliver for the team and make sure it does not slip.”
Freese recently said he would not rush the Zimbabwean international striker, whom he believed would play a key role for his charges to win more trophies. The 22-year-old signed a two-year deal with Dikwena after he made his mark while playing for FC Satmos in the Botswana Premier League, where he scored 20 goals and finished last season as the top marksman in that country.
The former Njube Sundowns player starred alongside Knowledge Musona and Khama Billiat in the national Under-17, Under-20 and Under-23 sides. Freese said Kaunda would be gradually introduced into the game.
“He is still young and I won’t rush into fielding him. I want him to work extra hard to earn his place in the team. He is in his own class and we are happy to have him as one of ours,” said the coach, who won two trophies last season. “He works very hard and has shown commitment to help our team fight for top honours. We will support him so that his talent is not wasted.”
