More injury woes for FC Platinum star

Norman Mapeza’s high-flying FC Platinum have suffered a setback with news that livewire winger Marshall Mudehwe is due to undergo a knee operation that will keep him out of action for the rest of the season.

The Warriors forward has been out for the past two months after injuring his knee and although FC Platinum officials had expected him back much earlier, the latest prognosis is that he has since aggravated the injury and now requires surgery, according to team manager Joseph Mususa.

“It is a big blow for us because he is such an important player for the team but the good thing is that he will be ready for next season. The latest scan has revealed that he has knee ligament damage which requires surgery and he is due to see a specialist soon. He will need six weeks to recover after the surgery so he should be fit for the start of next season,” Mususa said in interview this week.

Prior to his injury, Mudehwe was one of the Castle Lager Premiership’s three most exciting players, even earning a call-up to Norman Mapeza’s ill-fated Warriors projected.

A talented winger who terrorises defences with his searing pace and trickery, he was undoubtedly FC Platinum’s most lethal weapon in the first half of the season. Mususa is convinced that Mudehwe can be nursed back to form once he is fully fit. “He is such a talented young player with excellent dribbling skills and close control. He uses both feet and is also good with his shooting. It is a huge setback for him but he will back to his best once he is fully fit,” he said.
