Manyuchi won the title after he systematically knocked-out Ghana’s Sam Allotey in March, but Casseres has challenged the Zimbabwean for the title.
The Zimbabwean knows only too well what a win will mean to his world ranking of 23, as he tries to improve his ranking significantly to move towards bigger fights that pay better. He has not made a secret of his dream to challenge America’s invincible Floyd Mayweather for the elite WBC title.
Manyuchi’s promoter and manager, Christopher Malunga of Oriental Boxing Promotions, said they had prepared fully for the contest. “I know what Charles is capable of. He has been training hard and from what I have seen of him, Casseres will not stand a chance. In fact, I don’t see Casseres lasting the distance,” said Malunga.
Malunga said not much was known of Casseres, but judged from his previous fights they had watched on videos that the Colombian did not stand a chance against the Africa Boxing Union title-holder.
Apart from Manyuchi, two other Zimbabweans will feature in the all-night boxing extravaganza. Former Zimbabwe Boxing and Wrestling Control Board secretary-general, Patrick Mukondiwa will feature on the bill as judge, while Monalisa Sibanda will fight in the under card.
