No gate charge hike

Fans wishing to watch the high profile Castle Lager Premier Soccer League showdown between leaders Dynamos and second placed ZPC Kariba will have to fork out the usual $3 for the cheapest seat at the National Sports Stadium instead of the proposed $5.

This follows the refusal by the Premier Soccer League to allow a request by the home side ZPC Kariba to hike the charge to $5 for the game that could turn out to be the decider of who wins the 2014 Castle Lager Premiership title.

PSL Chief Executive Officer Kennedy Ndebele said although clubs are allowed to increase gate charges there was no room for that this season.

“No club hikes gate charges without the authority of the PSL. As such, there is no room for an increase this season, and I can safely tell you that the game on Saturday will be going for $3,” said Ndebele.

The game is likely to attract a large crowd as Dynamos and ZPC Kariba are separated by only a point and the results of the match will have a strong bearing on who wins the league title. After 28 matches Dynamos have 54 points while ZPC Kariba have 53.

Should Dembare win the match they will wrap up a fourth consecutive title while a draw or a win for ZPC Kariba will leave the league title race to be decided on the last day of play.

ZPC have a tough assignment on the last day away to Caps United while Dynamos will play host to How Mine, most probably at Rufaro Stadium.
