Sikhosana attacks Nhema

Zanu (PF’s) Youth League boss, Absalom Sikhosana took a dig at Indigenisation Minister, Francis Nhema, on Saturday during the last day of the Sixth Zanu (PF) National Conference in Harare.

In his address to delegates, Sikhosana said the Indigenisation Ministry had failed to pay attention to the plight of youths. He alleged that youths are often not well received whenever they visit the offices of the Indigenisation Ministry to have their concerns addressed.

Sikhosana gave a hint of a confrontational approach should the youths continue to be neglected by the Ministry of Indigenization.

“Our young people are unhappy with the way they are received at the Ministry and we need this to be addressed. I am saying this because young people do not want to get to a stage where they will be considered unruly,” said Sikhosana.

His sentiments come following calls made by students aligned to Zanu (PF) under the banner of the Zimbabwe Congress of Student’s Union (ZICOSU) last month when they went to meet the First Lady, Grace Mugabe at her Mazowe children’s home.

The youths said Nhema had failed to represent their interests.

Nhema is alleged to be aligned to the Mujuru faction that has come under fire for plotting to assassinate President Robert Mugabe. On another note, Sikhosana called for the revival of the National Youth Service programme.

He said the move will assist in sensitising people on Zanu (PF) principles.

“The National Youth Service has got to be restarted like yesterday. We have discovered the harm that comes to the country when people are not oriented. So we are saying that the National Youth Service should come as soon as yesterday,” said Sikhosana.

Youths from the National Youth Service have often been fingered in acts of political violence that have resulted in the deaths and displacements of MDC-T supporters.
