The three players, Fadzai Mukanga, Donald Dzinyai and Benjamin Musaka, are all products of Dubai 7 Football Academy, owned by former Zimbabwe national team winger Joel Luphahla.
An optimistic Luphahla, whose academy has become a feeder to some local PSL and First Division clubs, confirmed the latest development this week. He also expressed confidence that the trio would make the grade and sign contracts.
"We hope they will make it there because our aim is to nurture and develop talent for bigger leagues," Luphahla said. "I am confident that the boys will make the grade because they all have immense talent to play in any league. They are also hard workers who had already attracted the attention of various PSL teams here. We wish them the best of luck."
An official from Garankuwa United confirmed the presence of Zimbabwean trio at the Pretoria-based club, but would not say if they would be signed.
" They look to be good players, but I cannot say for now if the coaches will be impressed. They recently played in a friendly match with the rest of the team and they all did well. I can say the boys are good, but we will wait for the final decision on whether or not to sign them to come from the coach,” said the official.
Since the beginning of the season, Dubai 7, a grassroots soccer initiative founded and being run by Luphahla, has produced more than 10 players for the local lower division scene, who include Trevor Mafunga, Kuda Mpasiri, Lazarus Rundofa, Heenry Bwana, Peter Makoni, Gerald Takwara and Keith Murwira.
