Diya this week signed a two-year deal with Bosso’s city rivals, after frustrations that saw him fail to get his signing-on fee from the Bulawayo Giants since he joined them from Zimbabwe Saints.

“Diya is a national assert whom any club would wish to have in their ranks,” Sibanda told The Zimbabwean in an interview earlier this week.

“We have been monitoring him since his days with Bosso. We already had capable goal-keepers, but with him coming in, competition will be the order of the day and our team will be safer. He has what it takes to be a respected goal-minder.”

Diya is set to battle it out for the first choice position with veteran goalkeeper Ephraim Mazarura this season.

Earlier this week, club mentor, Luke Masomere confirmed signing of Diya on a two-year contract with option of renewal.

Diya is owned $8,000 in signing own fees by Bosso, but to show his commitment to the fallen Bulawayo giants, he still renewed his contract after with them despite several offers from other clubs after the Chan Tournament, where Zimbabwe reached the semi-finals.

He even sent his elder brother and former Dynamos goal-keeper coach, Tichaona, to sign on his behalf while he was in South Africa with the Warriors in the belief that the club would honour its end of the contractual bargain, but that was not to be.
