
In the photographs, it is black people standing in the midst of their ruined lives. It is also millions of black Zimbabweans crowding the streets of South Africa, Zambia, Namibia, Botswana, and there is really no plausible explanation other than a wish to escape Mugabe’s rule.
Mugabe has clung resolutely to power with a tick-like tenacity, often cooking election results, for 35years so much that even other Africans are questioning why, in a country renowned for producing globally competitive professionals, he believes that he alone is capable of governing, even at 91.
