Mnangagwa targets Mujuru loyalists

A camp allegedly fronted by vice president Emmerson Mnangagwa is reportedly moving in to flush out all parastatal office bearers loyal to axed Vice President Joice Mujuru.

“The Mnangagwa camp is not taking any chances. They are aware of the threat that will come when President Mugabe is no longer in office and they want to take full charge of the party and all arms of government. They are now moving to dislodge all well-known and suspected Mujuru loyalists in influential positions in parastatals and other government departments,” said a reliable inside source.

The move was being orchestrated by a group known as the Gang of Four, comprising Politburo members Jonathan Moyo, Saviour Kasukuwere, Patrick Zhuwao and Oppah Muchinguri.

Panic has already gripped government heads of department and parastatals. “A lot of people are going to lose their jobs. We are not safe at the moment and indications are that the purges will affect us, in parastatals. We are operating in panic mode. It’s well-known that one way or the other every parastatal supported programmes initiated by VP Mujuru or those aligned to her,” said another source within parastatals.

The Zimbabwe National Road Authority and State Procurement Board have already come under attack and indications are that the Energy Ministry will soon be hit by votes of no confidence after its office bearer Dzikamai Mavhaire was sacked for his alignment to the Mujuru faction.

Axed Manicaland provincial chair Ambassador John Mvundura was appointed to lead ZETDC while former Mutare West legislator Fred Kanzama was appointed board member in the PowerTel board. Mutasa’s sidekick Basil Nyabadza who heads Arda board is also reportedly not safe.
