Sibanda, Mazarura linked to SA clubs

Two Zimbabwean national team goalkeepers Ndodana Sibanda and Ephraim Mazarura could find themselves in the ABSA Premiership when PSL action resumes in February.

According to the players’ manager, Abel Shongwe, the two have lined-up trials with two different Absa Premiership teams during the Afcon break.

“Sibanda, who currently plays for Moneni Pirates in Swaziland, will be here anytime this week to undergo trials with both Platinum Stars and Moroka Swallows,” said Shongwe.

“We are thrilled that he will get a chance to try his luck in one of the biggest leagues on the continent.”

Sibanda, who has previously played for Railstars and Highlanders in his homeland, was once linked to Soweto giants, Orlando Pirates, where he was set to replace slain former captain Senzo Meyiwa.

Shongwe said he would also meet Pirates officials this week to discuss another possibility of trials for the goalkeeper.

Mazarura, in the books of How Mine, will be jetting into SA later this week to also have trials with Platinum and Swallows.

Shongwe from Swaziland said he would try and assist the two goalkeepers secure fair contracts in the fancy league.
