With 15 matches to the close of the season, things are beginning to shape up, with Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United now emerging as three of the favourites to lift the championship.

In fact, most of the top teams have seemingly picked form at the right time of the season, as the fight for UEFA Champions League and Europa Cup places intensify. While Chelsea and City are still hot favourites, consistency has seemingly returned for Liverpool, Arsenal and Everton, who remain dark horses as the league enters the home straight.

It is against that background that fans of the two Merseyside clubs – including those in Africa and Zimbabwe, are eagerly awaiting Saturday’s game, for which 12th-placed Everton host The Super Reds, who are five steps ahead of them on the log and 12 points adrift.

Both sides go into the tie on the back of impressive league wins. Liverpool beat stubborn 2-0 West Ham at home last weekend, to move up the ladder, while Everton were 1-0 victors away at Crystal Palace.

Despite the unpredictability of derbies, Liverpool go into this one as favourites, as they have been the better performer since the Christmas break. Brendon Rogers’ side have also welcomed back chief striker Daniel Sturridge, who returned from a long injury lay-off with a goal as his side beat the Hammers.

Elsewhere, Chelsea are tipped to roll past Aston Villa, while City should also have it easy at home against struggling Hull City, who were clobbered 3-0 at home to Newcastle. Arsenal are away to Tottenham Hotspur in a match that should end in scoring draw, while United are away to West Ham. All those games will be played on Saturday.
