Barber's old man cut for naughty kids

A US barber is offering to give naughty children an 'old man' haircut; short back and sides – and bald on top.

'Rusty' Fred, of Atlanta, calls the distinctive style the 'Benjamin Button Special' and says it's a novel way to discipline children. He posted this image of the child to Instagram and has since become an online hit.

Fred told the Washington Post: "There are a few people that are saying it's emotional abuse; but on average, everyone is applauding the mother that brought the child in – and applauding me as well.

"When you go to discipline kids these days, they can't necessarily use physical punishment the way parents did in the past, but they have to do something.

"If you don't, and your kid ends up doing something crazy, everyone is going to say the problems started at home."

Cops called after baby boards bus

Police in China reunited a one-year-old toddler with his parents after the little boy clambered onto a bus on his own.

The bus driver and passengers could not believe their eyes in Changsha City, Hunan Province, when the bus doors opened and the baby climbed aboard.

The bus driver pulled over the bus nd called police for help. Some passengers looked after the child while they waited for officers to arrive.

Police officers from the local station made inquiries in the neighbourhood, and managed to find the baby boy's parents an hour later.

The mother, Mrs Zhang, said her son had wandered off while playing outside the mobile phone store she runs with her husband.

"In just two to three minutes, I couldn't find him any more. We looked for him everywhere around, but failed to find him," she said.

Teen replied to his own text while drunk

An Oxford teenager has become a laughing stock online after he drunkenly replied to his own text during a big night out.

Marcus Gray, 19, was out in his home town with a friend who was about to go travelling to Thailand.

They got separated in the course of the evening and Mr Gray sent his friend a text asking if he was still out on the town.

Later, when he finally arrived home, he looked at his phone, thought the text had been sent to him and, in his inebriated state, replied: "Nah mate I'm home now."

Mr Gray later uploaded the exchange to Twitter where it quickly went viral, notching up 11,000 retweets and 15,000 favourites.

He told the Mirror: "It was only the next morning when I got up that I realised what I had done and how stupid I was!

"I showed my friends and they were all laughing so I thought I'd just put it on Twitter – it's crazy how it's exploded."

Pensioner, 78, gets tax bill… for £4.7bn!

A pensioner who received an unpaid bill of more than £4.7bn says the tax man must have mistaken him for tycoon Richard Branson.

Doug Yeomans, 78, from Shardlow, Derbyshire, said the letter from HM Revenue and Customs ordered that a direct debit of almost £950m a month would be taken out of his account for the next five months to pay off the debt.

The father-of-two told Sky News: "I was a bit shocked when I saw the amount, I'm used to hundreds not billions.

"They probably got me mixed up with the Chancellor of the Exchequer or Richard Branson, I don't know".

The former builder said he found the demand for £4,742,354,255 waiting for him in a letter at the weekend.

He said: "I could manage the £255 if I sold my Peugeot 206 and I'll have to cut down on my shopping at ASDA.

"It's such a ridiculous figure I wasn't too worried, I don't know where they got their figures from.

When Yeomans got through to the Revenue they admitted having made a mistake.

"You can get an interview with the Pope easier than getting through to them," he said.

A spokesperson for HMRC said they were very sorry for the error.

"We don't talk about individual cases but when we make mistakes we aim to put them right fast and apologise."

Man trains rabbit to fetch him a beer

A Brooklyn man has trained his girlfriend's pet rabbit to bring him a beer in a custom made delivery cart.

Ben Ahles says he has developed a bond with three-year-old Wallace since moving in with girlfriend Alix nine months ago.

He says that he has been collaborating with Wallace to create performance art and "happenings" that capture the rabbit's capabilities and worldly passions.

"It took half of a year to train him to push the beer cart and four different prototypes before we got the right one," he said.

A clip of Wallace performing his party trick has attracted more than a million views on YouTube – but Mr Ahles says it wasn't as easy as it looks.

"He took very little interest in my presence until I started giving him raisins as treats. Only then did he get excited that I was around," he admitted.

"As long as I give him a treat every once and a while, not only will he suffer my presence, he will also put in a minimal amount of effort to please me."
