Despite falling on the wrong side of the fans’ favour at Chiefs, Nkatha was one of the stand-out performers who helped Amakhosi go 18 matches unbeaten in the league. While his absence in the Chiefs changing room will definitely be felt, it is his presence in the Matsantsantsa a Pitori line-up that now falls under scrutiny, as the Pretoria-based side seeks a climb to the top eight.
SuperSport United coach, Gordon Igesund, recently expressed his belief in the former Zimbabwe Warriors star, whom he hailed as a “big signing for the club. The former South African national team coach believed Nkatha would score many goals for his new club, as they seek to get back to their status as some of the challengers for top spot.
Igesund, whose team has a date with Chiefs three games into the resumption of the league, signed Nkatha on a three-year deal early last month.
“We are very proud to have him on board and he knows that he has a lot of work to do for us. I also know that he will score goals for us,” said Igesund in an interview this week.
“He is always in the box and we all know that he has been under huge pressure at Chiefs, but I think that was totally unfair on him. I don’t want to say Chiefs will miss him, but we know that he will hurt many teams with him in our side and we are excited to have him here. I have seen at training that he is very relaxed, enjoying himself and looking sharp.”
