The President, Michael Bulagango, said the committee had only raised $50,000 and required an additional $200,000 to host the national event. The national championships were expected to form part of the selection process for teams for the All Africa Games and other international meetings. The All-Africa Games will be held in DRC in September.
The paralympians will compete in various competitions, including basketball, athletics, five-a-side soccer, netball, wheelchair tennis and swimming. Billed to feature in the championships are wheelchair racing athletes Margaret Bangajena, Magadaline Madzivire, Elford Moyo, Samson Muroyiwa and Thandiwe Ndlovu and athletes Patricia Bhebhe, Lovemore Chimufombo, Batanai Muroyiwa and Talent Kasera.
Bulagango said they would also use the platform to identify potential athletes to compete the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games.
