Government should not unnecessarily meddle in the country’s football. If government carries out its threats to dissolve the ZIFA Board, FIFA will not hesitate to take stringent disciplinary measures against the country, including banning us from participating in competitive games. After all the rot at ZIFA finds its roots in government corruption. The recent statement made by Tabetha Kanengoni, deputy minister of Sport, Art and Culture in Parliament, that government would go ahead and dissolve the ZIFA board despite the consequences that might include the FIFA ban, is both careless and irresponsible. Which interests is Kanengoni serving if she does not mind us being slapped with a ban. This is an example of a ministers Zimbabwe would be better off without. Mugabe should redeploy Kanengoni elsewhere if she does not appreciate the importance of football and protocols governing the beautifull game of football-Stephen Mapfumo, Mbare, Harare
