I trust I find you in good health. This piece serves to highlight to you some of the things that were happening when you chose to absent yourself to the Far East under the guise of “traditional annual leave”. I know you have one of the most sophisticated intelligence system and as such you are pretty aware of most of the things that were happening .Again we leaving in a modern world and you could have followed most of the events that took place here via the internet. But my emphasis shall be on the things that you might have been misinformed on, knowing that it seems as if you have become detached to the happenings in our beloved country.
While you were away, the factionalism that have rocked your party (and that you have always suppressed over the years) continued to rear its ugly head as witnessed by a number of events that took place in your party and which is making it difficult for your political Commissar to keep the party intact.
Your ranting at the Airport highlighted that you have surely read the letter by your former right hand man, one Didymus Mutasa whom out of convenience you have chosen to label a stupid fool. That Mutasa, the one who has threatened journalists on your behalf, the one who used to give you all forms of superlatives, shocked all and sundry when he wrote a damning letter supposedly to you as the Chair of SADC on the shenanigans happening in your party .Lest I forget, he also signed off as the Secretary of Administration, yes, the Secretary of Administration, a post that he still believes he holds because you allegedly held and presided over an illegitimate congress. Despite the fact that Mutasa carries a tainted and dark past, it was refreshing to note that Mutasa was singing from the same hymn book that all democrats have sung from in the past 20 years .We were all shocked!.If Mutasa apologizes to the people of Zimbabwe for the past wrongs he committed and give a glimpse of what was happening in the party, he will surely get a place among the democratic soldiers of this beloved country.
In all this Zimbabweans have all of a sudden been granted the opportunity to get a deeper insight into what is happening within your beleaguered party. All sorts of accusations have been thrown against former colleagues which range from the time of the liberation to today. If you could appoint ministers and Deputy Presidents which such a dirty and tainted past we wonder who could be clean amongst yourselves. As you come back we hope we will continue to be entertained by the drama unfolding in your party. All of a sudden we begin to see and hear the history of the liberation struggle being retold, and what was never in the public domain coming out. We hope the said characters will also tell us what really transpired to our iconic heroes, the Late Chitepo and General Josiah Magama Tongogara.
Rugare Gumbo is back at his best of continuously giving you sleepless nights. He is on the record telling anyone who cares to listen that he and his colleagues are on a mission to reclaim the party from mafikizolos ,we don’t know what that means, but I can assure you that if you thought that the expulsion you purportedly passed on him could silence him , it has worsened the situation.
While you were away innocent members of the MDC T Youth Assembly who were on a visibility programme in Budiriro were assaulted by ZANU PF youth members allegedly at the instigation of one errant boy by the name Gomwe (It is time that he got to appreciate that he has no monopoly of Budiriro and should not attempt to emulate his predecessor in Mbare who thrived on violence for people will be left with no choice but to defend themselves from such irresponsible shenanigans).As a true statesmen and father figure ,Dr Morgan Tsvangirai was quick to visit the area to calm the situation and plead with all the political players not to engage in violence but focus on rebuilding the economy and ensuring that everyone leads a better life.
While you were enjoying taxpayers monies in the Far East, your deputies continued to miss in action, the Acting President chose to become a village politician domiciling himself in Midlands (whether it’s a launch pad or not no one knows) as for the other “little known” Vice President, he retreated in his shell only to hear about him in Mozambique and Botswana and his wife making headlines that she wanted a very beautiful house
There has been lack of leadership from your government officials.Dr Tsvangirai has been to Hopley in your absence to find out the problems bedeviling the area and the continued mushrooming of illegal settlements in Harare. In a true nationalist sprit he has directed council to ensure that proper facilities are put in place to ensure the safety and protection of all citizens. He also visited the Hopley clinic and directed the clinic authorities there to desist from harassing perceived and real supports of the MDC by refusing to attend to them and oh yes this all was happening in your absence .
While you were away the Manzou villagers were evicted from the farm which they had called their home .The arguments on whether the place was for animals or not is neither here nor there, the issue remains there were people who were left in the open so that animals could be taken in, allegedly at the instigation of one holder of a Doctorate in philanthropy. That the first lady’s name is always sucked in when there are land disputes in Mashonaland Central should really be an issue with your Presidency. However the notable lesson coming out of this is that you have failed to adequately address the land question. Had you , I repeat had you brought finality to the land question a long time ago we would not be getting into these challenges and had the policy of one farm , one family had been respected , we surely would not be running into such problems where there is a continued insatiable appetite for primitive accumulation of land.
Photos sent by your son on instagram also created heated debate in this country with others questioning why you continue to abuse tax payers money by taking your family to such expensive places when you could have afforded a simple holiday in Zvimba and allow your boys to get a glimpse of Christmas holiday in the rural area, something they do not know and have never experienced. The experience that some of us have of having Christmas under a tree in Zaka is surely priceless. For Your own information Dr Morgan Tsvangirai spent the Christmas holidays in Humanikwa village, Buhera meeting and mixing with the ordinary people, getting to know and appreciate what is happening in their lives.
While you were away the MDC T youth assembly launched a Youth Education Upgrading Programme dubbed “Tangira Pawakagumira”, which aims amongst other objectives to undo the mess and damage you, have presided over in the education sector. In true statesmanship , the President in waiting , Dr Morgan Tsvangirai presided over the launch of the programme which will see many young people get an opportunity to further their studies which were affected by .The man has already shown capacity by stepping in to provide leadership in your absence and why can you not allow him for once to rightfully take that which is his and allow the people’s wishes since the elections of 2002 , 2008 and 2013 to stand by letting him assume the Presidency of this country.
We also read that the Zambians were not really happy and excited about your presence in their country and had to stage a peaceful but highly successful demonstration to that effect .The ‘Mugabe Must Go” chants from those brave Zambians will surely remain etched in our minds and hearts .It goes without saying that what the Zambians demonstrated that day is a true reflection of many of us who no longer see any value that you can bring to the development of this great nation .Also note that many Zimbabweans would have loved to continuously show you that they no longer have confidence in you by demonstrating and petitioning you, but are let down by the heavy handedness in which the overzealous police and security forces thrash such peaceful demonstrations. Whether they think you will outlive all of us and continue to keep a hold on your questioned authority of this country is a discussion for another day.
You might be shocked as to why I have taken my precious time to let you what has been happening .My only interest is to prove to you that the time has come for you to consider your standing in the Zimbabwean body politic .It’s time that you sincerely looked at opportunities that are there for you outside Number 1 Chancellor Avenue and opportunities that we have as a country in a post Mugabe era.
This letter serves to remind you that myself and many Zimbabweans feel you have overstayed as the first citizen of this country and you need to take a break and retreat to Zvimba.I represent a generation that has not known any other leader of the country other than yourself, you need to give us a chance to have a better and capable leadership by simply doing the most noble thing of retiring and allow this country to be run by fresh hands and fresh minds. We have a right to realize democracy and freedom in our lifetime and we hope you will take this advice seriously.
Lastly already the people’s choice, Dr Morgan Tsvangirai is doing the work that should be done by your government .You therefore need now to call for a free and fair election where Zimbabweans will be given a chance to elect their preferred choice, who is none other than Dr Morgan Richard Tsvangirai.
I hope that you will act accordingly
