Winini wins selection tourney

Munashe Winini of Churchill came out tops in the under 17 selection tourney held on the 7th of February at Churchill Boys High school. He was tied with Mwadzura on the first position with a perfect score of 5 out of 5 games.

Peisa Alaistair of Mufakose 2 High school finished with 4,5 points and was on third position. Panashe Nyandoro, Graffi Bester of Mabvuku High school, Takunda Mudzingwa and Chikwavaire Tapiwa finished with 4 points and were separated on butcholtz in the above order in a star-studded field with 68 participants taking part.

In the under 17 girls Moyo M came first with a perfect score. She was followed by Stacy Concalves of Convent Girls High, Sweetman T, Mahachi M and Amy Mufunda all had 4/5 points and also separated on butcholtz.

In the under 15 boys category Kudakwashe Zimbowa had a tough time with the boy from Mufakose 2 Hamandishe and eventually he finished with 4 /5 points managing a top five finish. In the under 15 girls category Masawi Isabel from Mufakose 2 High won the age group followed by Matengenzara D, Gotore, Garai and Majare M of Mabelreign Girls High school.

Meanwhile in the under 13 girls category Rumbidzai Mawire was the winner with a perfect score. The tournament was a success attracting more that 200 participants the highest ever number to be hosted in a selection tournament so far.

The winners will represent the province at the Nationals tournament slotted for Manicaland sometime in March towards the end of the term. The tournament was run and organised by FA Victor Chimbamu with the assistance of FA Gumbe Farirai as well as Munashe Ziome who assisted in the pairing of the 6 age groups which took part.
