“I am ready for the fight, I have been preparing for this match and when I travel to Zambia I will be doing my final preparations and I am confident of a win. I respect my opponents and David Avanesyan is a good fighter but I am not a bad one either. I know I am going there to win,” he said.

Manyuchi who is leaving for Lusaka on Tuesday for a training camp before his fight on March 28 was hosted for a send-off ceremony by the Ministry of Sports, Arts and Culture where the boxer received 100litres of fuel worth $150 as support from the government.

The Champion also got some sponsorship from companies like Kenlink, Absolute Sports, Body Active Gym and Mr T35 but he was disappointed by the absence of the Sports Minister, Andrew Langa, who failed to show up for the event.

“I have for long been receiving much support from the Zambians, they have been there for me as if I am Zambian. It is so frustrating when I don’t get the backing I desire from my own countrymen,” he said.

“Of course there have been companies who have come up with support and I do appreciate them but people need to understand the magnitude of my achievements and the kind of support I need to represent our country; I just feel that understanding is lacking especially with the ministry.”

The reigning Sportsperson of the year has been offered a Zambian citizenship in the past and have since turned down the offers choosing to remain loyal to his country.

“I think Zimbabwe should do something because as it stands it is Zambia who are doing everything for me. Zambia is the best, I think they deserve to have me as a citizen but I am not going to change my citizenship,” he explained.
