Zim junior player on trial in Denmark

A Zimbabwean junior soccer player, Tanaka Chinyahara, is on the verge of joining Danish topflight side Hobro IK, where he might soon team-up with former Warriors gunman Nyasha Mushekwi.

Mushekwi recently joined the Danes on a six-month contract from reigning South African league champions, Mamelodi Sundowns. He was shipped to the Danish side via Bidvest Wits juniors, where he was under the tutelage of fellow countryman, Charles Yohane, after he impressed Danish scouts last year.

“Chinyahara is a quality midfielder whom I believe will make it abroad,” said Yohane in a recent interview. “His football skills and brains are extra-ordinary. He is one of the most versatile players we have here, although he plays better as either a defensive or attacking midfielder. During his stint here, he did very well and that is why he managed to attract the attention of the Danish side and a number of other European clubs.”

Yohane was confident that Chinyahara’s success in Europe would translate to a positive development for the Zimbabwe national team, which is urgently in need of internationally-experienced stars.

The former Warriors player equated Chinyahara’s play to that of former Netherlands great, Clarence Seedorf, who starred for both Real Madrid and AC Milan at the turn of the millennium.
