The Barclays Premiership race enters week 30, with misfiring Chelsea continuing to get favours from second-placed Manchester City.

The Blues, still enjoying an eight-point stranglehold on the log, have been posting uninspiring results of late, but their cause has been helped by an equally unconvincing City, who have failed to capitalise on their rivals’ miss-steps.

As the Blues staggered to a 1-1 draw at home to Southampton last weekend, City succumbed to a shock 1-0 defeat at lowly Burnley, which increased the gap to eight points off the leaders, who still have a game in hand and wider chances of successfully wrestling the championship away from Manuel Pellegrini’s side.

As the competition rages on, City are at home to tricky West Bromwich Albion on Saturday, hoping to get back to winning ways, while Chelsea have it seemingly easy away to lowly Hull City.

In-form Liverpool – 1-0 winners away to Swansea City on Monday, have a great chance of breaking into the top four when they host Manchester United, who occupy fourth position. United will be two points ahead of the fifth-placed Super Reds when they march onto the turf on Sunday.

Arsenal cemented their third place with a resounding 3-0 win over West Ham United last weekend and will be hoping to do just the same when they head off next to Newcastle United. A loss by the Gunners will see Liverpool at par with them on 57 points, should Brendan Rogers’ side win against United.

Another top-four chasing side – Tottenham Hotspur, will seemingly have it easy at home to lowly Leicester City, who anchor the 20-team log , while second-from-bottom side, Queens Park Rangers, host Everton.
